home CHURCH
A family on mission. Rooted locally. Connected citywide.
Home Church
Our life together as a church is centred in our Home Churches: small, committed communities of around a dozen people who gather weekly and share life throughout the week.
These communities exist not only for one another, but for the places they are planted in. Home Church is where our mission becomes local and personal. It is where the “neighbour” in "love your neighbour as yourself" stops being a general idea and becomes the people on our street, in our workplaces, schools, and communities. Together, we learn to love, pray for, serve, and live as witnesses among the people God has placed around us.
Why Home Church?
Jesus never envisioned His followers as anonymous attendees or passive consumers. Rather, the church we see in the Bible is one that shaped people in loving community, where faith was practiced, responsibility was shared, and mission was lived together.
Many of the things Jesus calls His church to simply work best, and often only work, in smaller, committed communities:
Being truly known and cared for
Using spiritual gifts rather than observing from a distance
Discipling one another through shared life
Loving neighbours in tangible, sustained ways
Living as visible witnesses in everyday places
As churches grow larger, it often becomes easier to disengage and harder for everyone to participate. Our conviction is that growth should lead to more people activated, not fewer.
Home Churches allow the church to grow wider across a city while remaining relational, participatory, and missionally engaged.
What Happens When a Home Church Gathers?
Home Churches typically meet weekly, usually in a home, and share life together around a few simple, intentional practices:
Prayer and Worship
Making space to pray, sing, listen, and respond together as we seek God and learn to trust Him in everyday life.Reading the Bible Together
Opening Scripture and reflecting on it together, guided by a shared reading plan across the church, so that God’s Word shapes our thinking, choices, and way of life.Sharing a Meal and Remembering Jesus
Regularly sharing food together and taking time to remember Jesus, His love, and the new life He offers, keeping grace at the centre of our community.Life Together
Sharing meals, conversation, laughter, and honest moments as people who are learning to follow Jesus side by side.Living Faith in Everyday Life
Encouraging one another to love neighbours, serve generously, pray for others, and live as witnesses to Jesus in our ordinary, everyday lives.
Each Home Church is supported by a Home Church Pastor whose role is not to do everything, but to help others grow, be equipped, and step into the gifts and responsibilities God has given them.
Built to Grow and Multiply
Home Churches are not just a way of organising our life together. They are part of how we understand being the church.
As churches add more people, it is easy to lose opportunities for deep connection, shared responsibility, and everyday mission. Faith can become something we attend rather than something we live. Mission can begin to feel like the work of professionals rather than the calling of every follower of Jesus.
Home Church offers a different path.
By remaining small and rooted in communities, Home Churches help people stay known, needed, and involved. They create space for participation and shared mission, rather than spectatorship.
When a Home Church grows beyond what allows for deep connection and shared life, we do not try to make it bigger. We multiply it into another community.
This allows more communities to have a visible Christian presence, more spaces where people can gather around Jesus, and more opportunities for people to serve, lead, and grow. What is gained in intimacy and participation is not lost as we grow, but carried forward into new places.
This is how we understand movement. Not growth for its own sake, but faithful multiplication that extends life, mission, and witness across the city.
A Different Way of Being Church
For those who have grown tired of attending church without being deeply involved, Home Church offers a way back into meaningful participation.
For those exploring faith, it offers a compelling picture of what following Jesus looks like when it is lived together in ordinary life.
Home Church is not just where we go to church. It is where we learn to live as the church, for the sake of one another and for the sake of our city.
